The Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre is recruiting a Legal Assistant. The Legal Assistant will principally assist Chief Representative in discharging day-to-day duties of the Shanghai Office.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the Legal Assistant include:

  • Give timely and efficient support to the Chief Representative;

  • Provide full spectrum of administrative support to Shanghai Office;

  • Undertake research on various topics in international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution and compile case statistics;

  • Organise and run all aspects of seminars and full day conferences;

  • Draft articles and prepare marketing materials;

  • Translate documents;

  • Manage and operate WeChat and other internet forums; and

  • Assist with planning hearings (if any)


Requirements

The successful applicant should possess the following qualifications and personal characteristics:

  • Undergraduate degree in International law or similar field preferred;

  • Knowledge and good understanding of international arbitration and HKIAC (Internship experience at HKIAC is an advantage);

  • Demonstrates the ability to solve problems, analyze systems & data and suggest appropriate solutions;

  • Fluency in Mandarin and English are essential - written and verbal;

  • Capable of writing reports, procedures and correspondence;

  • Excellent drafting skills and attention to detail;

  • Experience with a broad range of event activities such as seminars, presentations, receptions;

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills;

  • Excellent organizational skills: an ability to prioritize work, reliably manage multiple commitments, and work autonomously;

  • Outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills;

  • Able to work independently as well as in a team and a pro-active, highly responsible and problem-solving attitude to work;

  • Design savvy: experience with Adobe Illustrator, In-design, and Photoshop; and 

  • Software experience including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
